Everyone knows the story of David and Goliath: shepherd boy vs. professional gladiator. However, many of us forget that David's victory on the battlefield was due in large measure to his private spiritual development. Long before David stood before Goliath, David had been prepared physically, mentally, and spiritually. In 1 Samuel 17 when David presents himself before King Saul--- there we learn how David was prepared by the Lord for this epic battle.
